Morning Link-O-Rama, November 13

Good morning, faithful readers, it’s Friday!

Put your drinking caps on, because the next two days of your life are the most important days you will ever experience!

….or it’ll just be another weekend.  Probably the latter.  Anyway, time to get link-tastic!

io9 has a great piece titled “Disaster Movie Moments That Pissed Us Off The Most“. You can imagine how bad some of this stuff is.  Sadly, I actually enjoy watching The Day After Tomorrow, even if, somehow, the characters can outrun cold.  That’s still not half as bad as that absolute piece of shit The Happening. I mean, it started out cool, with all the suicides and such (as cool as suicides can be, I mean), but GODDAMMIT who the hell is afraid of wind? Only if the wind looks like this would I fear it:

I AM EL NINO!

RECOGNIZE.

Also from io9, they recently had a post about pop-culture cyborgs.  While perusing this, I came across, in the 1970s section, none other than the world-famous ROM: Spaceknight!  What, you haven’t heard of him? Yeah, you’re not the only one.  More like Skirkster-famous.  But the guy did have a Marvel comic book series at one point, so hey. Anyway, I had this toy when I was a kid (note the Wikipedia article saying that the toy was a failure). I loved that damn robot-knight-guy-whatever-he-is to death. Ah, memories of getting bullied on family vacation and using every ounce of my willpower to somehow change into ROM.

It didn’t work, by the way. I just went back to our hotel room and watched Shazam. If you’re curious what you were missing by not having such an amazing piece of technology back in the 70s, check this out:

In continuing Prisoner links, Topless Robot has posted The 8 Trippiest Twists of The Prisoner as a lead-up to this weekend’s premiere of the miniseries.  What an absolute mind-fuck of a show.

Maxim has a list of 70s superheroes who should be on the side of vans.  And guess who made the list?  A CERTAIN SPACEKNIGHT!

Finally, io9 (yes, them again) has an exclusive on Cylon centurion target practice posters.

I’m gonna need one of these now, please.

Enjoy your Friday, peeps.  Maybe I’ll see you over the weekend.

  1. OM! I used to collect ROM! It was great because at the time it was one of the only comics that kept going down in value. That made it way easier and cheaper to collect
