My LOST anticipation is boiling over

Between the constant promos, the clips from Lindelof and Cuse, and all the reviews for the new season that have been coming out lately, I don’t know if I can wait thirteen more days.

Thankfully I’ve got Jack Bauer and the Galactica crew to tide me over until then.

We’ve been re-watching all the old episodes from the beginning to kind of refresh the memory.  What’s fun is trying to figure out just how much of the story the producers and writers had figured out in advance.  While there are naturally some episodes that are less than stellar, it’s absolutely true that the best way to watch the show is continuously, on DVD or whatever.  It was either Damon Lindelof or Carlton Cuse who said that watching the show by its television schedule, week to week with months off at a time, is like reading one page of a novel a week.  Doesn’t quite work the same.

So last night we were watching the first hour of the season four finale, “There’s No Place Like Home”, and towards the end of the hour this scene played out (I’ll warn you now, don’t watch this if you’re not caught up to this point).  Granted, if you don’t watch the show, you won’t have a clue what is going on in this clip, but then, why would you be reading this, either?

Amazing.  First, the music from Michael Giacchino is absolutely beautiful (just like everything he composes, really), and you just get a sense of all the pieces moving into place, setting up one of the best season finales I’ve ever seen.

If the new season comes anywhere close to matching the brilliance of that scene, then we’re in for a great ride.
